Sri Lakshmi Flour Mill

Sri Lakshmi Flour Mill has been part of Adarsha Nagar for a long time. You can find us at number 36 in Parkal. The sound of the machines is something the neighbors are probably used to by now. We spend our days grinding grain into flour for the local families and some of the smaller shops around here. It gets quite dusty inside, no matter how much we sweep up. That is just the way a flour mill is. My father used to handle the machines and now I do most of it with a couple of helpers. We see the same faces every week coming in with their bags of wheat or rice. It is good to see people face to face instead of just doing everything over a phone. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the afternoon fixing a belt or cleaning out a jam. It’s hard work and your clothes always end up white by the end of the shift. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that because everyone knows where we are. We just open up early and stay until the last customer is sorted. The air in Parkal can get hot in the summer, which makes the mill even hotter, but we just keep the fans running and get on with it. It’s a simple life but it keeps us busy and useful to the town.
