Bala Vinayaka Hardware sits in Sivanantham Nagar in the Katpadi Thaluka area. It’s the kind of shop where you can find almost anything if you look long enough, but it might be under a pile of something else. We have rows of plastic pipes, boxes of different sized nails, and more cans of paint than we probably need. We don’t use a lot of fancy technology; there’s a big ledger on the counter where we write things down. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit, and we have a small radio that plays local songs in the background. It isn't a big chain store, just a local hardware spot where we know a lot of the customers by their first names. We stay busy enough to keep the lights on and the shelves stocked.
