Our place is located at Plot No. 353, 188/7. It is a solid building where we deal with alloys all day long. The heat from the processing area is something you never quite forget. We wear heavy boots and thick clothes to stay safe while we work. The floor is mostly dark from the metal and the soot. It isn't a place for someone who likes to stay perfectly clean. We have a small area for the administrative stuff, but most of the action happens out where the metal is. There’s a constant clinking sound of pieces hitting each other. We spend a lot of time weighing things and marking them with chalk. The ledger is kept on a tall desk where we can stand and write. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, maybe just a few old posters and a clock that runs five minutes fast. Most of the guys have been here for years, so we don’t need to say much to get the job done. We just know the routine. In the winter, the warmth from the shop is nice, but in the summer, we really feel the sun. We keep the doors open as much as we can to let the air circulate. It is a straightforward operation. We show up, do the melting and mixing, and head home when the sun goes down. There is no point in having a fancy office when the real work happens out on the floor.
