Associated Cement Company Ltd. is located out in the Gulbarga Dist., which is a place known for its heat and its vast open spaces. This part of the country has a lot of history with cement, and we are just one part of that big picture. The air here often has that dry, dusty smell that comes with this kind of work. We have big machines and tall structures that you can see from a distance when you are coming down the road. It is a large operation, but on the ground, it is just a lot of people in boots and hard hats trying to get the day's work finished. Every morning starts with the sound of engines starting up and the sound of heavy wheels on the gravel. We spend our hours watching the production lines or checking the bags as they come off the belt. It is a lot of repetitive work, but it is important for the buildings going up all over the state. The sun can be quite brutal in Gulbarga, so we take our breaks whenever we can in the shade. We do not spend much time in offices; most of us are out where the actual stuff is being made.
