Micron Laboratories

Our place is over at Plot No. 2643 in Phase-4. It’s a quiet area mostly, which is good for the kind of work we do here at Micron Laboratories. We have all these machines and glass bottles everywhere. Some of the equipment makes a low humming sound that you stop noticing after the first hour. The lights are bright because you need to see what you’re doing with the samples. We usually start the day by checking the logs and making sure everything stayed at the right temperature overnight. It is a lot of routine stuff, really. We wear our white coats and move from one bench to another. Sometimes it smells a bit like chemicals, but you get used to that too. Phase-4 can get a bit lonely during the lunch hour, so we usually just eat in the small break area we set up in the corner. There’s a window that looks out onto the road, but not many people walk by. It’s mostly just trucks delivering supplies or picking things up. We keep the floor very clean, which is probably the hardest part of the job. If someone drops a pen, we have to pick it up right away. It’s just us doing the tests and writing down the numbers day after day. It isn't a fast-paced environment, but it requires a lot of staying still and watching things.
