If you head down to the G. I. D. C Estate in Waghodia, you’ll find us at Plot No 739. We’re right near the Surati Bazar, so it’s a pretty active part of the estate. We spend our time working with cement, making all sorts of articles that people need for building or decorating. It’s messy work, to be honest. There’s always bags of cement sitting around and the sound of water mixing with grit. We have been at this for a while, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the shift. Making things out of cement isn't something you can rush; you have to let things set right or they’ll just crumble later on. We take it one day at a time here. Sometimes the yard gets a bit cluttered with finished pieces waiting to be picked up, but we try to keep a path clear. The guys here have been working together for a long time, so we have a rhythm down. It’s not a high-tech factory, just a place where we use our hands and some basic tools to get the job done. People from around the bazar often pop in to see what we have ready. We don't do much talking, mostly just focusing on the molds and the pouring. It’s what we know how to do, and we just keep at it every day. It is heavy, physical work, but it feels good to see the finished products stacked up.
