We stay busy over here at Door No. 2-11-50 in Hari Ram Sadan. It’s right on Vulli Veedhi in Vizianagaram. This place, Vizianagram Oil Cake Mills Llp, is basically just a big shed where we handle oil cakes all day. It’s not very clean, to be honest. There’s always dust on the windows and the floor is usually covered in some kind of residue from the mill. We have a few guys working here who have been around for years. We mostly just focus on getting the cakes pressed and packed into those big brown sacks. It is heavy work. The street outside can get really crowded with carts and cycles, so moving the stuff out is always a bit of a headache. I spend a lot of time sitting at an old wooden desk checking the numbers while the machines hum in the back. It’s a loud place. Sometimes the neighbor from the next building comes over for tea. We don't have any fancy signs or a big lobby. If you come looking for us, just look for the building with the stack of empty bags outside. It’s a simple setup. We’ve been in this part of Andhra Pradesh for a long time. The weather gets really humid here, which makes the work even more tiring, but we just get on with it because that’s the job. It's not a lot of fun, but it keeps the lights on and the families fed.
