Sri Manikanta Srinivasa Rice Mill

Our rice mill, Sri Manikanta Srinivasa Rice Mill, is situated at 3-62 along the Vizianagaram Road in the Dugdasagaram area. If you drive down that way, you can’t miss the stacks of empty gunny bags piled up near the entrance. It’s a busy spot, especially when the harvest comes in and everyone is trying to get their crops sorted at the same time. The building itself has seen better days, but the machinery inside still runs well enough to get the job done. We start early, usually before the sun is fully up, to beat the worst of the heat that builds up under the tin roof. The 3-62 address is where we keep our logs and where the farmers come to settle their accounts after the milling is finished. It’s a lot of manual labor, hoisting bags onto the scales and then back onto the carts, so everyone here stays pretty tired by the end of the shift. Dugdasagaram is a place where people know each other, so we often spend time just talking to the drivers while the machines are humming in the background. We don’t go in for much decoration or anything like that because the dust would just cover it anyway. It is a straightforward operation where the main goal is just to keep the paddy moving and the customers from having to wait too long. We have been part of the Vizianagaram Road landscape for years and plan to stay put.
