Dhurka Rice Four Mill

Our mill is right near Pragathi School in Kotarubilli. You can hear the kids playing and shouting during their break while we’re working the machines. We are at 14-6-16 in Gantyada Block. It’s a place where we grind rice into flour and handle other milling jobs for the families around here. The sound of the mill is pretty loud, so we’ve all gotten used to speaking up to be heard over the engine. It’s a family-run thing. We started it because there wasn't a good place nearby for people to get their flour done without walking too far. Now, people from all over the block come by with their heavy sacks. We get covered in white dust by the end of the day, but that’s just how the job goes. We try to keep the prices fair since we know almost everyone in the village. It’s not a big industrial setup. It’s just a few machines and us working hard to keep them running properly. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to sit and wait, which gives us a chance to talk to the neighbors. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are because of the noise and the smell of fresh grain. We’ve been here for years, and we plan on staying. It’s a simple way to make a living, and it feels good to help people.
