Seven Hills Batteries

Seven Hills Batteries is down on the ground floor of Plot No. 373/B on Magadi Main Road. This part of Sunkadakatte is always moving and there is a lot of noise. We have been sitting here for a while now. Dealing with batteries is heavy and dirty work. We have them stacked up along the walls in piles. The smell of lead and acid is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We get a lot of people coming in from Vishwaneedam Post or Srigandhada Kavalu because they know where we are located. It’s a dusty spot because of all the heavy traffic on the main road. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass at the front just so we can see the street. Most of the day is spent testing cells or charging up units for people. It’s physical work, moving those heavy casings around from one side of the room to the other. We have a small bench where we do the repairs. It’s covered in marks and old bits of wire. We don’t have a fancy waiting room for anyone. People just stand around or sit on a plastic chair while we check their battery. Sometimes the rain comes down hard and we have to move everything back from the front door. It’s just us working through the list of jobs one by one. It keeps us busy and the day goes fast.
