Auto Nagar is a pretty gritty place to work, but it’s where all the action is if you’re in the machinery business. Our company, Visakha Machine Spares, is located on Plots 81 and 82 in Block-B. It’s a large industrial shed mostly, filled with metal parts and the smell of grease and oil. Since we are in the machine spares business, things are rarely clean for long. We have heavy shelves lining the walls to hold all the gears, valves, and components that people need to keep their factories running. The coastal air in Vizag means we have to be careful about rust, so we spend a lot of time oiling parts and checking the inventory. It gets very hot under the corrugated roof in the summer, but we have some big industrial fans that help a bit. Our staff are mostly guys who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. We don't have much of a front office; usually, people just come straight into the shed to show us the broken part they need to replace. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment. We know our machines and we know our parts, and that’s about all there is to it. We’ve been serving the local industry here for a long time, and we’re used to the long hours and the heavy lifting that comes with the job.
