Sri Venketraju Kirana General

Our place, Sri Venketraju Kirana General, is right on the Visakhapatnam Main Road in the 530003 area. It is a standard kirana shop where we sell the basic things people need for their kitchens and homes. Every morning, I come in and start moving the displays out so people can see we are open. The Main Road is always full of noise and people rushing to get somewhere. We see a lot of different people every day. Some just want a small packet of something, others buy for the whole week. It can get a bit messy behind the counter with all the ledgers and pens lying around. I try to keep the biscuits and sweets where the kids can see them. Being in Visakhapatnam, the weather is often a topic of conversation with anyone who walks in. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us making sure the shelves don't stay empty for too long. Sometimes the stock comes late and we have to explain that to the regulars. It is a lot of standing and reaching for things on high shelves. We don't have any fancy displays or anything like that. It is just a practical shop for practical people. We have been here long enough that the sounds of the Main Road don't even bother us anymore. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
