Sri Surya Medical & General Store

Our place is at Door No: 49-7-2/A, situated on Lalitha Temple Road in the Akkayyapalem area of Visakhapatnam. It is quite easy to find because we are very close to the Sangam Office Bus Stop. Because of the bus stop, we get all sorts of people coming in at all hours, usually in a hurry to catch their ride. Some are looking for medicine for a headache and others just want a bottle of water or some biscuits for their journey. It is a mix of a pharmacy and a general store, so we have to keep track of a lot of different things at once. Akkayyapalem is a busy neighborhood and there is always something going on outside our door. The temple nearby brings in a lot of people on special days too. We spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates on the medicine strips and making sure the toothpaste and soaps are stocked up. Sometimes the dust from the road comes inside, so we are constantly wiping down the counters to keep things clean. It is a small shop but we try to make use of every inch of space we have on the walls for hanging packets. Most of the locals know us by name now since we’ve been here at this spot for a while. It’s a lot of standing and talking to customers, but that’s just the nature of the business in Vizag.
