Shanmukha Kirana And General Store

The shop is right here on Apsb Colony Main Road, just down from the Hb Ground where kids are always playing. We opened Shanmukha Kirana and General Store because the area needed a place to get daily items without heading all the way to the bigger markets. It is not a huge place, just a regular shop where we keep everything from different kinds of rice and dal to the small things like safety pins and matchboxes. My brother and I take turns sitting behind the counter from early morning until we close at night. Sometimes it gets really dusty because of the traffic on Nad Kotha Road, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and packets. We don’t have any fancy displays or lights, just some wooden shelves we had built a few years back. People come in mostly for their milk in the morning or when they run out of salt or sugar while cooking dinner. We know most of the faces around here since they live in the nearby houses. It is a quiet enough life, just keeping track of what is running out and making sure we get the new stock from the wholesaler before the weekend starts. Sometimes we sit outside on the plastic stools when it isn't too hot, just watching the cars go by. We keep some cold drinks in the small fridge at the back, which is popular when the humidity gets bad in Visakhapatnam. It is just a normal store for the neighborhood.
