Up here in Visakhapatnam, the air always smells a bit like the sea. Dharti Dredging And Infrastructure Ltd. is located at D/No: 39-30-31 in the Gandhinagar-2 area of Marripalem. Being a port city, dredging is a big part of what we do. There is always sand and silt that needs shifting to keep the waterways clear and the infrastructure solid. It’s a constant battle against the elements, especially the salt that tends to rust the equipment if we aren't careful. Our crew spends a lot of time out near Appayyanagar and the surrounding docks. The office in Marripalem is where we regroup, fix the tools, and try to make sense of the project plans. It is a bit chaotic at times, with people coming and going and the sound of the city right outside the window. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to do our work and go home to our families. The heat in Vizag can be intense, so we drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade during the peak hours. We’ve been part of the neighborhood for a while, and we’ve seen the docks change and the roads widen. It is just honest work that requires a lot of patience and some very heavy machines. I hope we can keep doing this for a long time without too many breakdowns or delays.
