Amma Opticals & Eye Clinic

You can find our shop at Shop No. 1 in Vemulavalasa, right by the Anandapuram Junction. It’s a good spot because everyone passes through the junction eventually. We have two sides to the business, the optical shop with all the glasses and the eye clinic part where we do the testing. The glass cases for the frames need a lot of cleaning because people are always touching them and leaving fingerprints. We have all sorts of frames, from the cheap plastic ones to the sturdier metal ones. In the back, we have the dark room for the eye exams. It’s a bit cramped in there, but it gets the job done. We spend a lot of time adjusting frames for people so they sit straight on their noses. It’s fiddly work with those tiny screwdrivers, but you get used to it after a while. The junction outside is always humming with the sound of buses and bikes. Sometimes we just stand by the door and watch the traffic when there aren't any customers. We aren't a big chain, just a local shop run by people who live nearby. We keep our records in a big drawer under the counter. Sometimes we forget to order more lens cleaner, and we have to wait for the delivery guy to come around again. It’s just a normal, everyday shop where we help people with their glasses and their vision.
