Amaravathi Kirana & General Stores

Down here on Shivarami Reddy Street, close to the Visakhapatnam Airport, you’ll find Amaravathi Kirana & General Stores. We are right in the Durga Nagar area, which is a lively place to be. It’s a typical local shop where we have everything from rice and lentils to little snacks for the kids. The main road is always buzzing with people going towards the airport or coming home to the residential pockets nearby. We started this store to give people a convenient spot to pick up their weekly groceries without having to travel into the main city center. The space inside is pretty packed with sacks and jars. We try to keep things where they belong, but it can get a bit messy when we’re restocking the shelves. That’s just part of the charm of a kirana store, I suppose. My brother and I run the place, so one of us is always around to help find what you need. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done with a pen and a notebook. It feels more personal that way. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use flashlights, but we stay open regardless. The neighbors are good people and we’ve known most of them for years. We aren't trying to be a supermarket, just a reliable corner store for the families living around Durga Nagar. It’s hard work but it’s what we know.
