Being in a flat instead of a big office block makes the work feel a bit more personal and less stiff. We are in the middle of a busy part of the city, so there’s always noise from the street coming through the windows. We handle exports, which involves a lot of computer work and international phone calls at odd hours because of the time differences. It’s not a glamorous job. Most of the time, we’re just looking at shipping documents and talking to customs agents. The office is pretty functional with just the basics—desks, chairs, and a lot of filing cabinets. We moved here because it’s a central location and easy for people to find since the hotel is such a well-known landmark. We don't have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just opens it when someone knocks. We’ve been working out of this spot for a while now and it suits us fine.
