Nagamaiki Smallholder Pig Producer Company Limited is in the NBCC Building at Bayavu Colony. We are on the first floor at road level, so people can just walk in. A group of us who raise pigs in and around Kohima started this. It began because we wanted a way to organize our work better. Raising pigs is a lot of physical labor for anyone. You’re always dealing with feed and cleaning and making sure the animals are healthy. Our office in the building is where we do the paperwork and meet up. We don't have a farm right there in the colony, obviously. The pigs are at our individual homes. Sharing advice on what feed works best and how to keep the stalls clean is what we do. Sometimes the price of supplies goes up, and we have to talk about how to handle that. We are just regular people, not some big corporate meat company. We wear our everyday clothes and get our boots muddy most days. It’s a straightforward business for us. We don't have fancy brochures or a big marketing team. Focusing on the animals is what matters. It’s a steady way to make a living, and we’ve been at it for some time now. People in the colony know us as the pig guys. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
