If you head down to Kariapatti Taluk in the Virudhunagar district, you will find us at 1/360 in Thonugal. Vadakku Puliampatti Goat Producer Company Limited is a real grassroots operation. We are a producer company, which sounds formal, but it’s really just a bunch of us local goat farmers trying to organize ourselves. The office is a simple concrete room with a few chairs and maybe a fan if the power is on. We spend most of our time out in the scrubland with the goats rather than sitting behind a desk. It is a tough environment here, very dry and dusty, and the work is physical. You have to be okay with getting your boots dirty and being out in the sun all day. We handle everything from the births of the kids to the final sale of the goats. There are no fancy logos or big advertisements for what we do. People around here know us because we live here. We are trying to make sure that the small farmers in our village get a fair shake. It is a lot of arguing over grain prices and transport costs, but it’s the life we know. We are just a group of villagers working with what we have in Thonugal.
