Katha Nadar Street is always busy, so finding No.1 can be a bit of a trick if you’re new to the area. Our office is right there among all the other shops and small businesses. Most of what we do involves a lot of talking on the phone and staring at shipping schedules on the screen. It’s a small space, mostly filled with filing cabinets that have seen better days and stacks of paper that we need to get through. We don't really have a showroom or anything like that since we mainly handle the import and export side of things. It gets quite loud with the scooters and carts passing by outside. Sometimes the internet goes out and we all just sit there waiting for it to come back so we can send our emails. We keep a big water jar in the corner and a calendar that someone forgot to flip over three months ago. The walls are a plain off-white color and there’s a clock that ticks a little too loudly when it’s quiet. We don't spend much on fancy furniture because we’re usually too busy tracking where the containers are. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to keep the paperwork moving so the goods don’t get stuck at the port for too long. Everyone knows each other’s business since the desks are so close together. It's a bit of a squeeze but we manage fine.
