Pentagon Garments

Our place is No. 1/407 in the S.I.D.C.O. Industrial Estate in Sulakkarai. It’s right in the middle of the industrial zone here. We make garments. It’s a lot of machines and a lot of fabric rolls everywhere. The building is a typical industrial unit. Nothing pretty about it. We have a lot of sewing machines running most of the day. It gets pretty loud inside with all the clicking and whirring sounds. We focus on getting the orders done on time for our clients. We don’t have a retail counter where you can buy just one piece of clothing. We work on a larger scale. The estate is full of other businesses too, so there’s always trucks and bikes moving around the roads. We’ve been in Sulakkarai for a good while. The staff knows the routine well and they work hard. We cut the fabric, stitch it together, and then it gets packed into big bags for shipping out. It’s repetitive work but we’re used to it. We don’t spend money on fancy offices or logos. We just have the name on the front of the unit in plain paint. Most of our work comes from long-time clients who know where we are located. It’s a hot place to work in the summer months, but we have big fans going. We just stay focused on the production line and getting things out the door. That’s how we operate here in the industrial estate. No frills at all.
