Ayyanar Lathe Works

Ayyanar Lathe Works is just a small shop tucked away at 52, R R Nagar here in Sivagami Puram. We started this place a long time back when there weren't many buildings around. Most days it is just the sound of the machines humming and the smell of cutting oil. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but we just keep at it because people around here need their parts fixed. We handle a lot of different things, from simple bolts to more complicated shafts that need turning. It’s not fancy or anything, just a place where things get done. You’ll usually see a pile of metal shavings near the back door and a few old calendars on the wall. The guys here have been working these lathes for years, so their hands are always dark with grease. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded with all the projects waiting in line, but that is just how a busy workshop looks. We don't have a big front office or someone to answer phones all day. Mostly, people just drop by and show us what they need. It’s a quiet corner of Sivagami Puram usually, except for our shop. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, but the work we do inside these four walls stays pretty much the same day after day. It's just honest work with metal and tools, nothing more and nothing less.
