Venkat Subramaniyan Cement Dealer has been operating out of 67, Bazaar St in T.Gopurapuram for quite some time now. Dealing with cement in a small town means you get to know everyone who is building a house or fixing up a wall. It’s mostly just us here, unloading bags from the trucks and keeping everything organized in the shop. The street can get a bit crowded during the day, but we manage. If you’ve walked down Bazaar St, you’ve probably seen the dust or the stacks of bags sitting near the front. People come by to ask about prices or just to see when the next load is coming in from the factory. We don't have a big office or anything fancy, just a desk and some chairs where we handle the bills. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when it rains and we have to cover everything up quickly. Selling cement isn't the most exciting thing, but it’s what we do. We try to keep enough stock so people don’t have to wait too long for their construction work. It's a lot of heavy lifting, and the days can be long when a big delivery arrives late in the evening. Most of our regulars are local masons and folks from around T.Gopurapuram who just need a few bags for a small job. We've seen a lot of changes on this street over the years, but the shop stays pretty much the same.
