Mary Engineering Works

Our shop is over at Block 27 in Neyveli, right on Italian Avenue at number 5. It’s a decent enough spot, though the street gets crowded when everyone is heading home from work. Inside, it’s mostly machines and the sound of metal being turned or cut. We’ve got oil stains on the floor that have been there for years, no matter how much we scrub. It’s just part of the job. Being in Neyveli, we know most of the people who walk past our door every morning. Sometimes a neighbor pops in just to say hello or ask for a tool. We don’t mind. The air inside always smells like machine oil and coolant. It’s a smell you get used to after the first week. We spend a lot of time bent over the workbenches, making sure things fit right. There’s no air conditioning, just a couple of old fans that rattle when they’re on high. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we keep going. The paperwork happens on a small table tucked in the corner. It’s usually piled with sketches and old receipts. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a steady one. My brother helps out sometimes when things get backed up. We just take it one order at a time and try to keep the machines running without too much trouble.
