Jay Jagdamba Flanges Pvt. Ltd. is situated out at 61, Village, Abitghar. It’s in the Wada Taluka area of Palghar district. It’s quite a way out from the main city, so the air is a bit fresher, though it gets very dusty during the dry season. Our place at number 61 is more of a workshop or a small factory setting than a fancy office. Most of the people who work here are from the nearby villages. We have a lot of heavy machinery and the sound of metal is pretty constant throughout the shift. During the monsoons, the rain hits the tin roof so hard you can barely hear yourself think, but we just keep going. It’s a lot of hard work, honestly. We don't have any big corporate perks or anything like that. We just focus on getting the flanges ready and loaded onto the trucks. The road to Abitghar can be a bit bumpy, especially after a big storm, so we always have to plan our transport carefully. It’s a quiet life out here in Wada, away from the rush of Mumbai. We usually take our breaks under the shade of the trees outside the main gate. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. Most of us have been working together for years now, so it feels more like a small community than just a regular company.
