Jay Glass

Jay Glass is located at Shop 10 in the Matruchaya Building. If you're looking for us, we’re right near Woodland Cinema. It's a good landmark because everyone knows where the theater is. The shop is small, but it’s filled with glass of all types. We have to be really careful where we step. There are offcuts and large sheets leaning against the walls everywhere. It’s a bit dusty because of the cutting and grinding, but we try to sweep up every evening before we head home. My dad started this shop years ago, and I’ve been helping him since I was a kid. Now I run most of the day-to-day things. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just wait for people to walk in or call us on the phone. The street outside is always busy with people going to the movies or shopping nearby. Sometimes the noise from the traffic is a bit much. We have a small workbench in the back where we do the edges. It’s a messy job, and my hands are usually covered in fine glass dust by the end of the shift. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town. We just want to do a decent job for whoever walks through the door. It’s a simple life, really. We open at ten in the morning and stay until the sun goes down. Most days we are busy, but some days it's just us waiting for the next order to come in.
