National Tea Company

National Tea Company is located in Laxmipura. We are right near the Ahmedabad - Palanpur Highway - 41. You can hear the trucks roaring by all night and day. It’s a dusty spot because of the road. We spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and the furniture. The highway makes it easy for us to get tea from the north. We have a large warehouse space here. It’s just a big tin roof and some brick walls. It gets really hot in the summer afternoons. We have a couple of big fans, but they just push the warm air around. We mostly deal in wholesale. Local vendors come by with their small trucks. We load them up and they head out. It's a simple routine. We start early, usually before the sun is fully up. That's when it's coolest. We have a small office corner with a wooden table. That’s where we do the paperwork. It’s mostly just receipts and logs. We’ve been in Laxmipura for years. The highway has changed a lot, gotten wider and busier. But we are still doing the same thing. We don't use fancy machinery. Just hands and a few trolleys. We have some wooden pallets that we use to keep the tea off the ground. Sometimes the rain leaks in from the corner of the roof, so we move the bags. We'll fix it eventually.
