Our workplace is at 70/2 and 70/6 on the Main Road in Vilanthai Post, Thirukoilur. Madras Refractory Works Pvt Ltd sounds like a big fancy name, but we are just a bunch of regular people working in a shed and a yard. The Main Road is where all the action is, though Vilanthai itself is a bit more relaxed than the bigger cities. We deal with refractory materials, which means we spend a lot of time around high heat and heavy bags of material. It is a dusty job, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the day. We have been at this spot for quite some time now. The building at 70/2 is where we keep the records and the finished stuff. It is not a shiny corporate office; it has old fans and a lot of paper everywhere on the desks. We do not use much marketing because the people who need this kind of stuff usually find us through word of mouth or old contacts. We focus on the day-to-day tasks. Some days are slow and we just clean the equipment, and other days everyone is rushing to get an order out to a factory. It is a practical way to live. We like the community here in Thirukoilur. It feels like a real place where people understand hard work. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing.
