Krishna Foods

My name is at the bottom of the lease here at 25, Voc Street. Krishna Foods is basically just a few of us working in a small space in Ulunthampattu. I wouldn't say it’s the most exciting job, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We start early because the heat gets bad later in the day. The building is old and the walls could use some paint, but it’s where we make all our food items. Mostly, we just sit around the big table and get things sorted and packed. Voc Street is usually pretty crowded with bikes and people walking to the market, so getting deliveries in can be a bit of a headache. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard that the roof makes a lot of noise, and we have to talk louder to hear each other. We don't have a big marketing department or a website that looks professional. It’s mostly just word of mouth around the neighborhood. My cousin handles the orders that come in over the phone, and I spend most of my time checking the inventory in the back room. We have a small kettle for tea that’s always running. It’s a simple life and we’ve been here at this address for several years now. People know us as the place near the old tree on the corner. We keep the front door open for the breeze, even if it brings in some dust.
