Balamurugan Vaithiya Salai

Balamurugan Vaithiya Salai is out in Tirukannur, specifically in the Krishna Nagar area of Pondicherry. We are easy to find because we are right near Karuna Store, which everyone in the neighborhood knows. The building address is No 1/144. It’s a modest place, nothing like those big modern hospitals you see in the city center. We keep things simple here. The air is often humid, being in Pondicherry, so we keep the doors open to let the breeze in when it’s not too dusty outside. The floor is tiled and we try to keep it swept, but people bring in a bit of sand from the street. It’s a quiet life in this part of town compared to the main tourist spots. Most of our day is spent talking to people who walk in and looking over the supplies we have on hand. Sometimes the supply truck is late, and we have to wait around, but that’s just how it goes in this business. We don't have any glossy brochures or fancy signs. The sign we have outside is a bit faded from the sun, but it still does the job. Local residents usually stop by on their way back from the store. It’s a small operation, just a few of us handling everything from the counter to the back room. We like the pace of things here in Tirukannur. It's a nice place to work and talk to the locals.
