Amutha Store

Amutha Store is right in Chengampattu Village, in the Chengam area. If you live around here, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. It’s a small place, really. We started it because there wasn't much else around at the time. The walls are painted a plain color and we have a few shelves that stay pretty full. Most of our day is spent talking to neighbors who come in for their daily things. It's a village, so everyone talks to everyone. We don't have a big team or anything, just a couple of us making sure everything is in order. Sometimes the delivery trucks take a while to get down the road to us, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Chengam. We just want to stay open and keep things running for the people who live nearby. There’s a lot of dust from the road sometimes, so we spend a fair bit of time cleaning. It's just a regular life. We open the shutters in the morning and close them when it gets dark. People know they can find us here. We don't do anything special, just sell what’s on the shelves. It’s quiet mostly, except for the birds and the occasional tractor going by. That’s how we like it. Just a normal shop in a normal village, doing what we can for the folks who live down the street. It is a simple life and we are happy with it.
