You can find Vijaya Bhaskara Iron & Hardware Company right in the middle of the Main Bazar in One Town. Our plot number is 11-25-223/A, but most people just look for the stacks of iron rods near the entrance. It’s a loud place because of all the metal being moved around. We sell all sorts of hardware—nails, hammers, pipes, and heavy iron beams. The floor is concrete and usually has a bit of rust dust on it. I’ve been working here for years, and my hands are almost always dirty from handling the stock. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we don’t have fancy displays. We just put things where they fit. Customers come in looking for specific sizes of bolts or particular types of metal, and we do our best to find it in the back. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy, especially after a big delivery arrives. The Main Bazar is always crowded, so getting trucks in and out to unload is a daily struggle. We know most of the contractors who come in; they’ve been buying from us since we opened. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s necessary for all the building going on around here. We just stay open from morning until late evening, making sure people get the supplies they need for their projects. It’s a simple life and we enjoy being part of the bazar.
