Surya Aparna Clinic

You can find us over at 30-14-1 Kothavantena Road in the Durga Agraharam area. It’s a pretty standard neighborhood clinic. The street outside is usually busy with people going about their business and we are right there in the mix. Inside, the floor is that grey stone that stays cool even when it’s boiling outside. We have a few wooden benches for people to sit on while they wait. The walls are painted an off-white color that’s started to fade a bit near the light switches. We don’t have any of those big fancy reception desks you see in the city. It’s just a small table with a phone and a bunch of ledgers where we write everything down by hand. Sometimes the ink smudges but we can still read it. The doctor’s office has a heavy curtain instead of a door for one of the exam areas. It’s not a big place, so you can hear the fans whirring in every room. People from Durga Agraharam stop in for all sorts of things, mostly just common stuff like a fever or a scraped knee. We see a lot of the same faces every month. The water cooler in the corner makes a loud gulping sound every time someone takes a drink. It’s just a simple, local spot where we do our work and try to stay on top of the daily schedule.
