Sri Venkateshwara Rice Traders

Our trading business is located at 27-33-27 on Besant Road in Governerpet. It’s a hectic street with a lot of shops squeezed together, but we like being in the center of all the noise. We deal in rice, mostly buying and selling in bulk quantities. The shop is filled with the scent of different grains, and there’s always a fine layer of dust on the old wooden counters. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this for a long time together. People come to Governerpet because they know they can find exactly what they need, and we’ve been part of that for many years now. We spend our days on the phone or talking to transporters about deliveries coming in from the mills. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy sacks around and making sure the quality is right before they go out. The building is old and the street is quite narrow, so getting trucks in and out is always a bit of a struggle for everyone involved. We don’t do much advertising at all. Most of our customers have been coming to us for decades. It’s just a straightforward way to make a living. We keep our doors open late most nights because Besant Road stays busy well after the sun goes down. It’s a noisy, crowded place, but it feels like home to us after all this time we've spent here.
