Sri Durga Malleshwari General Stores

This shop has been operating in Vijayawada on MG Road for quite a while now. We are located near the Enadu office and right across from the SBH Bank, which makes it easy for people to find us when they are out doing their banking chores. The area gets very busy during the middle of the day with a lot of people walking by. I spend most of my time behind the counter counting change or writing down what items we are running low on. It is a general store, so we keep a bit of everything on the wooden shelves. I have some bags of rice stacked in the corner and rows of bottled drinks in the cooler. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool even when it is very hot outside in Vijayawada. Sometimes the bank employees come over during their lunch break to grab a snack or some cigarettes. The fans hum all day long to keep the air moving, but it still gets stuffy when the shop is full of people. I don't really have a fancy system for anything, I just remember where I put everything over the years. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the grain sacks and the cardboard boxes that come in from the distributors every few days. It is just a simple place for people to get what they need without any fuss.
