Om Balaji General Stores

I have been at this spot in Bhimana Varipet for some time now. Om Balaji General Stores is just a small place right across from Nagamma Satram. It gets busy here because of the Milk Project nearby, so there is always someone passing by on their way to work or back home. We open the doors pretty early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. Most of the day is spent just arranging packets on the shelves and checking what ran out yesterday. Sometimes the rain makes the street a mess, but people still come in for their soap or tea powder. It is not a fancy building, just D No 4-1-135/1, and the paint is peeling a little on the side. I spend a lot of time sitting behind the counter watching the traffic go toward the Milk Project. People in Vijayawada like to talk, so I hear a lot of news from the neighbors while I weigh out things or find a specific brand of biscuits they like. It is mostly just about keeping enough stock so nobody leaves disappointed. The fan hums all afternoon, and the light from the street comes in through the front. It is a quiet life here in 520001, just doing the same things every day and making sure the shop is ready for whoever walks in next. We have been here long enough that most faces are familiar to us now.
