Nagesh Rice Shop

If you go down Bangaramma Temple Street in Krishnalanka, you will find us at house number 4-6-62. Nagesh Rice Shop is a small operation. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure things run. The shop isn't very large so we have to be careful with how we stack the supplies. We have been here on this street for years. The temple is right nearby, so there is always a lot of activity and people walking past our door. We like the energy of the neighborhood. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy with the bells and the crowds, but we don't mind. We open up the shutters every morning and start sweeping the front. It is a daily routine that we've followed for a long time. People come in to get enough rice for a week or maybe a month. We know most of our customers by their names. It feels more like a community than just a place of business. We keep the accounts in old ledgers and try to keep track of everything. It isn't high-tech or anything. Just us and the rice. The light in the shop isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. If someone needs a specific variety, we usually have it tucked away somewhere. We just keep going, day after day, serving the local families around Krishnalanka. It’s a good way to live and we wouldn't change it for a fancy supermarket job. We just keep the bags full and the scale ready.
