M/S Sai Baba General Merchants

If you walk down M.T. Street in One Town, you’ll find us at 11/55/10. We’ve been operating as general merchants here for a long while. The street is narrow and always filled with people moving back and forth. Our day usually begins with checking what’s left from yesterday and seeing what needs to be ordered. It’s a lot of manual work, moving sacks and boxes around to make space for new arrivals. The ceiling fan hums all day, but it doesn’t do much against the Vijayawada humidity. We have a small counter where we sit, and it’s usually covered in papers and sample items. People come in looking for all kinds of daily supplies. Some are in a hurry, while others like to stay and chat about the news or the weather. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done with pen and paper because it’s faster for us. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out with the rest of the street. It’s a humble way to earn a living, but it’s what we know. There’s a certain rhythm to the day, from the quiet early morning to the rush of people after work hours. We just try to keep the shelves full and the customers happy with what they find here. It’s honest work and keeps us on our feet.
