About Mrt Rice Traders – Food & Beverages in Vijayawada
At 7-9-18 in Gandhi Nagar, the air always has a slight smell of grain and burlap sacks. We spend our days surrounded by different varieties of rice piled high in the back. Working in Srungavarapu Kota means we get a lot of local folks coming in who know exactly what they want. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions and tying up bags with twine. The scales we use are old but they still work perfectly fine. My clothes usually have a bit of white dust on them from the rice, no matter how much I brush them off. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when a new shipment comes in and we have to stack the heavy bags toward the back wall. We don't have a lot of room for people to stand around, so the shop feels a bit cramped when it's busy. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance where I can watch the street and talk to anyone passing by. We don't do much in the way of advertising; people just know we are here in Gandhi Nagar if they need rice for their families. Sometimes the light in the back flickers, and I keep meaning to fix it, but there’s always another bag to move or a customer to help. It’s just a plain, honest place where we work hard until the sun goes down. We've been in Srungavarapu Kota for many years doing this work.
