Our shop, Lakshmi General & Fancy Stores, is tucked away at D No: 3-4-12 in Sitara Center. Being in Vijayawada, specifically in the 520001 pin code area, means there is always something going on nearby. We have the usual general items that every household needs, but we also keep a section for fancy goods. That means things like hair clips, bangles, and small gifts that catch your eye. It is a bit of a mix, really. The shop isn't fancy despite the name; it’s just a practical place with wooden counters and shelves piled high. We spend a lot of time checking the stock to see what’s running low. If someone comes in looking for a specific type of ribbon or a particular brand of washing soap, we try our best to find it in the back if it isn't on the shelf. The light inside isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is kept. Sitara Center is a busy spot, so we see a lot of people passing by on their way to work or taking their kids to school. Sometimes people just pop in for a quick snack or a cold drink when the sun is beating down. We don't do anything special or have any big sales, we just stay open and serve whoever comes through the door. It’s a simple way to earn a living and stay connected to the local community here in our part of the city.
