Ata Sugar

Ata Sugar is right by the bus stand at V K G Nagar, 94-8-67. It’s a busy spot. You can hear the conductors shouting all day. We spend most of our time moving bags of sugar. It’s heavy work. Sometimes the bags tear and we have to sweep up. It’s just how it is. People walk in asking for directions more than they ask for sugar some days. Our office is small and gets a bit cramped when there are more than three people. We have a fan that makes a clicking noise, but we don't mind it. It’s better than the heat outside. Most of us here have been working together for a long time. We know each other's coffee orders. There isn't any fancy stuff here, just desks and stacks of inventory. The floor is concrete and it’s always a bit dusty. When the buses pull in, you can smell the diesel. We close up when the sun goes down. Usually, we're tired by then. It’s a simple business. We buy and sell sugar and that’s about it. We don't have big signs or anything. Just the name on the door. It’s a local place for local people. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when it’s quiet. You see a lot of people passing through this part of town and it keeps things interesting enough for us.
