You can find VIJAYPUR SK CHIT FUND PRIVATE LIMITED at Shop No. 4 in the Shri Krishna Complex on M. G. Road. This is in Vijayapur, which some people still call Bijapur. Being on M. G. Road means we are right in the thick of things. There’s always something happening outside our door, whether it’s a festival procession or just the usual Saturday crowd. Our shop is small, but we’ve managed to fit in everything we need. We have a couple of desks and some shelving for our ledgers. The Shri Krishna Complex is a busy place with other shops around us, so we often chat with the other shopkeepers during the slow hours in the afternoon. It gets quite hot in Vijayapur during the summer months, so we have a big desert cooler that makes a lot of noise but keeps us from melting. Most of the people who come to see us are local traders or families from the nearby streets. They’ve been coming to us for years to manage their savings through the chit fund. We do all our work by hand mostly, writing down entries and giving out receipts. It’s a very traditional way of doing things, but it’s what people here are used to. We open early in the morning and usually close up once the street lights come on and the market settles down.
