Our office is in the Hajeri Building, right here in Talikoti. The official record says Cts No. 1358. It is a well-known spot in the taluk, so people do not usually have trouble finding us. We focus on rural chit funds because that is what the people around here need. It is mostly farmers and small shop owners who come through our doors. We've been doing this for a while now. The office is pretty basic. We have a few old cupboards for the files and some chairs that have seen better days. It gets a bit noisy when the market is busy nearby. We handle all the collections ourselves and keep the ledgers updated by hand. It feels better that way, knowing where every rupee is going. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know everyone’s names. Sometimes people stay for a chat after they finish their business. We don't mind. It's nice to know what is happening in the town. The building is solid, though it could use a fresh coat of paint one of these days. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It's not a glamorous job, but it is ours. The ceiling fan makes a clicking sound, but it keeps us cool enough. We open early most days to beat the afternoon heat. We usually close for a bit during lunch time just to rest. The keys to the front gate are a bit heavy to carry.
