Herald Publications Private Limited is located at L-135 in the Verna Industrial Estate. Being in Phase-II, we’re surrounded by other big warehouses and factories here in the Salcete Taluk. It’s a very different vibe from the rest of South Goa. Instead of beaches, we have forklifts and industrial fans. Our building is a large, grey space that stays relatively cool even in the heat, which is good for the paper. We spend our shifts monitoring the presses and making sure everything is aligned properly. It’s a noisy environment, so talking a bit louder than usual is just something you learn to do. We don't really get walk-in customers here since we’re tucked away in the industrial zone. Most of our day-to-day happens over the phone or with the drivers who come to pick up the morning runs. The canteen nearby is where the crew usually catches up on the local news. The noise from the presses is constant, and it eventually just becomes background hum. We keep a few fans going, but it’s always going to be a bit warm when the machines are running full tilt. It’s just part of the daily routine for us here. We’ve been operating out of this unit for years, and we’ve seen the estate grow around us. Seeing the pallets loaded up at the end of the day is the best part. We just keep our heads down and get the printing done.
