Illu Dress Makers

Down in Amballur Vendur, you’ll find our small shop, Illu Dress Makers. We’ve been sewing and putting things together here for quite a while now. It’s a simple shop with a couple of machines and plenty of thread and fabric everywhere you look. We aren't a big factory or anything. It is just us working on one piece at a time. The area of Amballur Vendur is where we grew up, so it felt natural to set up the business here. People bring us all sorts of things to fix or make. Sometimes the floor is covered in scraps by the end of the day, but that’s how you know we’ve been busy. We don’t have a website or anything like that. Most people just know our names and where to find us. We keep the doors open so the breeze can come through, which is nice in the afternoons. Sometimes we lose track of time when we are focused on a difficult seam. We aren't looking to become some famous brand. We just like the work and the feeling of finishing something that looks good and fits right. It’s a quiet life for the most part, apart from the sound of the sewing machines. If you need something made or altered, we are here in the same spot we’ve always been. Illu Dress Makers is just a local place doing local work for our neighbors here. We keep our prices fair and our hands busy with the fabric and thread.
