Nagendra Farm

Our place is located at 31-4-5 in Vemulapalli, and it’s been the center of our lives for as long as I can remember. Nagendra Farm isn't some big industrial setup; it’s just a piece of land that we look after every day. The work starts early before the sun is even fully up because that’s the best time to get things done before the heat kicks in. We deal with the typical problems of any farm, like pests or waiting for the rain when the ground gets too dry. There is always a tractor that needs a part or a gate that won't stay shut. My hands are usually stained with dirt and my clothes aren't exactly clean, but that’s just how it goes when you work the land. We don't have a website or any fancy marketing stuff. If people want to see what we're doing, they just drive down to Vemulapalli and look at the fields. We grow what the season allows and try to make sure nothing goes to waste. It’s a simple cycle of planting and harvesting that keeps us going year after year. Sometimes the crop is great and sometimes it’s just okay, but we don't complain much. Life moves a bit slower here than it does in the city, and we are fine with that. There is plenty of space and the air feels better out here when you’re walking the rows at dusk.
