Sri Sri Ponkaliamman Cement Pipe Works

Our yard is right on Pandamangalam Road, and you can’t miss it because of all the concrete lying around. It is a pretty dusty place at East Vanadurai, but that’s just how it goes when you’re working with cement every day. We have been here in Totchanur for a long time now, making pipes for various drainage and construction needs. Usually, we get the mixers started early in the morning before the sun gets too high. It is heavy work moving those pipes around the lot, and my cousin helps me with the loading. We don’t have a fancy office, just a small tin-roofed shed where we keep the tools and sit down for lunch. Sometimes the weather makes it tough for the pipes to dry right, so we just have to be patient and wait. Most of our customers are local builders who just drive in and see what sizes we have ready. We use strong cement and local sand because it makes the pipes last a long time underground. If we run out of a certain size, we just cast more, though it takes a few days to set properly. You’ll see the big stacks of pipes from the road if you’re passing by. We like the work because it is practical and people always need good pipes for their land.
