Vellore Sri Chelliamman Chit Funds Private Limited is situated at Plot No.15 on the first floor. We are on First Main Road in Gandhinagar. This is part of Katpadi Taluk in Vellore with the pin 632006. Being on the first floor means we get a little less noise from the street although you still hear the buses going by all day long. We have been in Gandhinagar for quite a while now. The office is just a simple room with some metal cabinets and a big table where we sit. We do not have air conditioning, just the old ceiling fans that hum. Vellore can get really hot so we try to get most of the heavy work done in the cooler mornings before the sun is high. People come up the stairs to see us, mostly locals from the Katpadi area who we know well. We know most of them by their names and their families. It is not a big corporate operation with computers everywhere. We handle the chit funds one person at a time. We use ledger books and sometimes a computer for the final records. It is a bit cramped when too many people show up at once on collection days but we manage. First Main Road is a good spot because it is easy for people to reach from the station. We do not spend money on fancy signs. Word of mouth works just fine for us in Tamil Nadu.
