Raam Drinking Water

You can find us at 35, Tagore Street in Thorapadi. This is where Raam Drinking Water operates. It’s a residential-looking street, so it’s a bit of a squeeze when the delivery vans are being loaded up. We have the purification units set up in the back. The sound of running water and the humming of the pumps is what you hear all day long. We start really early, usually before the sun is even up, because people want their water cans delivered before they go to work. We spend a lot of time scrubbing the blue cans and making sure the seals are tight. It’s a physical job, carrying those heavy 20-liter bottles back and forth. My back feels it by the end of the week. Tagore Street is usually quiet, except for when our trucks are idling. We know most of the people living around here in Thorapadi. Sometimes they just walk over to the gate to pick up a bottle themselves. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us making sure the filters are changed and the water is moving out. The floor is almost always wet, so we wear rubber boots all day. It’s a simple service for the neighborhood. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. We just keep the machines running and the cans moving out to the houses and shops around here. It’s constant work, but someone has to do it.
